Spend A Weekend at Hog Waller Campground and ATV Resort in Palatka, FL

(I am not being paid by Hog Waller nor do I have any affiliation with Hog Waller)

When most people hear the word “resort,” they probably picture beach chairs, swimming pools, and all inclusive stays… but Hog Waller is a whole different kind of resort. 😅 Instead of lazy rivers and spa days, you’ll find ATVs, trails, mud, campfires, and nonstop outdoor fun. Hear me out! For those of us that like to camp and ride ATVs this is a resort!

My family and I had the pleasure of spending 4th of July weekend and Halloween weekend at Hog Waller for a little off-road adventure. Both trips ended up being full of dirt, laughter, late nights, and memories my kids will be talking about for a long time. Whether you’re into trail riding, camping, side-by-sides, or just love the outdoors, this place definitely has its own kind of charm.

Hog Waller is pet friendly! Their resort is located in Palatka, Florida about an hour East of Gainesville and about 2 hours North of Orlando. It is our new favorite place to go riding in Florida!

Stay Options

Hog Waller has 8 cabins. Each cabin is the same and includes 2 bunks that will sleep 4 people comfortably. Each cabin has heating/cooling and power. They are available for $112.50 per night plus tax and there is a 2 night minimum stay (prices may vary). Cabin stays do include admission for one person. We have not stayed in one of their cabins, however, guests provide their own mattresses according to their website. You may want to call them for clarification.

Other lodging options include bringing your travel trailer or RV and renting one of their RV campsites. Hog Waller offers drive through 20, 30, and 50 AMP sites with water hookup. They have 50+ sites with some sites that can accommodate up to a 70 foot RV/trailer. When booking a site online, their website has photos of each spot so you can get an idea of the area prior to booking. Prices may vary, but current booking rates for July are $65.00 per night. This also includes admission for one person. If their spots are all booked up, you have the option of staying in your RV/trailer without water and electric hookup. (Some of their event weekends fill up fast).

Lastly, you could always camp the good old fashioned way…in a TENT. If camping just isnt for you there are a few nearby hotels.

Shell Harbor Motel – 7.5 miles away
Welatka Lodge & Resort – 9 miles away
Hampton Inn Palatka – 15 miles away
Quality Inn – 15 miles away

Hog Waller also has a bathhouse, concession stands, a general store (with wifi…dont tell my kids), a parts store, and even a spot to rent ATVs and side-by sides. During busy weekends and events, other food vendors are on site as well. During 4th of July weekend, there was even an ice cream driving around.

Fires are permitted as long as they are in a contained pit. We have the SoloStove smokeless fire pit. I am sure you can find one on Amazon or something similar. The resort also sells firewood by the front gate if you need some. (As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases)

Riding and Trails

Hog Waller features 1,100 acres! There are over 50 miles of trails and a 6-acre mud bog. FYI – Monday through Thursday there is no night riding and trails close by 5PM. The park does offer 24 hour/all night riding during designated “All Hours/Event weekends.” You can find a list of their all hours events on their website.

When you’re done riding, they have a wash area with several hoses along the fence near the “1000 Acre Woods” entrance. Or, if you prefer a quick rinse, you can drive to the mud bog area and drive through the wash area there (pictured below).

Youth ages 15 and under are required to wear a helmet while riding an ATV. You can buy or rent a helmet if needed. Hog Waller also requires a 6-foot minimum flag on ATVs and UTVs.

Holidays

On 4th of July they had a ton fire works!

The lights in the photo are called whip lights. We purchased ours from Nilight! You can find a set here!

Halloween was very family friendly! Over the Halloween weekend, many campsites were decorated with blow ups and Halloween decorations. They also had “The Great Pumpkin Hunt” and trick or treating. We drove from campsite to campsite on our sxs to trick or treat. My kids had a blast and are begging to go back for Halloween again this year.
